I’m a big fan of hemp (which is not the same thing as the marijuana people buy to get stoned––hemp has a little bit of THC, but not enough to have a psychoactive effect) for this very reason.

Another big plus about hemp is that it’s relatively easy to farm in just about any climate as long as the soil is fertile.

That and things made out of hemp have a great feel to them. Damn. Why aren’t we making paper out of hemp already?

And don’t forget about clothing.

Hemp fabric is three times stronger than cotton fabric of the same weight; it is also warmer, more absorbent, and last longer.

Hemp has the look of classic linen and can have the feel of your favorite flannel. Hemp materials will also soften with age and with each washing.

The cotton plant needs about 50 percent more water per season than hemp, which can grow with little irrigation.

Cotton can take anywhere from six to eight months to harvest, while hemp only needs three months. Natural hemp grows twice as fast as cotton.

But hemp seemed to be indoctrinated with everyone to mean drugs or stoners. I have a dress shirt made of it, it’s comfortable as hell.

Do you ever think about the fact that the US has created and legitimized a system of institutionalized inequality by funding schools through property taxes?  That basically a child’s education is only as good as the value of the property in their neighborhood.  Funny how education is so often viewed as an equalizing factor when there is nothing equal about it.

Interviewer: Gatsby is a great American novel. Romeo and Juliet is a great love story. Same director taking an interesting take on each. Young Leo and now, um…

“As an actor, there is room for a certain amount of creativity, but you’re always ultimately going to be saying somebody else’s words. I don’t think I’d have the stamina, skill or ability to write a novel, but I’d love to write short stories and poetry, because those are my two passions.” - Daniel Radcliffe
